Sinatra Sings
Far Into Night

HOLLYWOOD (AP) -- Let's keep a record date with Frank Sinatra.

Right now he's top man in the record album field.
The remarkable thing is that Sinatra, a big record seller in the early '40s couldn't have been colder in the early '50s.  No one seemed to buy his disks.  Now, every album is a smash.
To record, he starts at 9:30 in the evening and winds up after midnight.  "The voice is more loosened up at night," he explains.  One night's session usually results in four numbers, but not always.

Top Recording Artists Due
To Visit Vancouver This Year

By RED ROBINSON
(Vancouver Sun April 25, 1958)

Last year was a pretty fantastic year for entertainment in Vancouver with big money-makers coming to town.
Entertainers such as Frank Sinatra, Harry Belafonte and Elvis Presley all visited last year.
This year is going to be just as big.  On the way to the city now is Rick Nelson, who will be here in June.  "The Show of Stars for 1958" will be here in May featuring Frankie Avalon, Laverne Baker, Clyde McPhatter, the Everly Brothers, Paul Anka, the Monotones, the Silhouettes and many more top recording artists.
It will be a one-night stand at the Georgia Auditorium with two shows that night.
Also coming to town to the supper clubs are the Four Knights, the Mills Brothers, Jimmy Rodgers, the Gaylords, Guy Mitchell, Billy Eckstein and maybe Jonie James.
This is just the start of centennial year and you can look for more top talent on the way.  Right now Bonnie Guitar and the Lancers are playing opposing club dates.  This town is alive with entertainment, and I think we all like it this way.

* * * * * * *
Last time Bonnie was in town she was with Gene Vincent at a one-nighter at Georgia Auditorium.  It was the wrong type of show for this female thrush and now she is enjoying the sophisticated atmosphere of a night club.
Although Bonnie's disc of "Dark Moon" was the big seller in the northwest, Gale Storm had the big seller that went over the million mark.
The next song that Bonnie recorded was "Mr. Fire Eyes" which enjoyed much wider recognition and got closer to the million mark in sales.
Bonnie is one of the most sincere people in show business today.  She is making her home now in California.  She is the gal that paved the way for other artists in the northwest.
Just recently another gal from Bonnie's home town has been successful along the same lines.  Her name is Pat Suzuki and she is on the way up that ladder of success right now.
