The CKWX Top Tens listed weekly in the Vancouver Province through most of 1957 and 1958 usually coincided with the listings in CKWX's series of "unpublished" and "published" charts.  It is hoped that the missing published chart for this week will eventually be found.  For the time being the above top ten has been substituted. This particular top ten may have been from the very first issue of the Sensational Sixty.

Fats Domino Hits High Sales Figure
Marks Important Anniversary;
Studies Fats Waller History
By RED ROBINSON
Vancouver Sun Aug. 22, 1958
   Fats Domino this week marks an anniversary with Imperial Records.
   It's his tenth year with the company and since he signed with Lew Chudd's label ten years ago, he has sold more than 4,000,000 extended plays.
   This is one of the most phenomenal sales figures in record history.
   Fats is studying the history of Fats Waller, his predecessor in the music field.  Fats Waller was a tremendous musician and ad lib man.
   The film company producing the flicker thinks that Fats Domino will bring to the screen the real Fats Waller story.  The movie is due to be released before Christmas.
   Fats' new release this week is predicted to top all his previous singles.  He wrote the song himself and it should be big for the back to school trend.
   Last year at this time the back to school biscuits (another name for discs) were coming out right and left.  This year the same can be expected.
   Fats Domino's new release is just the start of the trend.  It is called "Young School Girl."

   Ever since the first motion picture that featured a musical background or song title, the trend in Hollywood has been to feature songs with shows, because of public demand.
   Three such shows are playing now in this area . . . "High School Confidential" . . . "King Creole" and "St. Louis Blues." The last two feature stars who are primarily singers.
   Nat King Cole has become a big box office draw because Mom likes Nat Cole and likes to watch him on the screen.  Hollywood is aware of the drawing card and uses Nat as often as he will allow himself to be exposed on this particular media.
   Elvis Presley on the other hand is the teen-age idol and his appeal draws the kids to the show, and surprisingly enough many adults who either enjoy Elvis or come out of curiosity.
   An up-and-coming show featuring a singer is "A Certain Smile: which features Johnny Mathis more fully than he has ever been featured.
   The motion picture industry hopes that by having top singers on the screen you will flick off the T.V. and go to the flickers.
