Up Top Again
Paul Anka's 'Just Young' Leads
Way in Eastern Canada, U.S.

By RED ROBINSON
(Vancouver Sun Oct. 10, 1958, 1958)
Seventeen-year-old Paul Anka from Ottawa, the boy with many musical talents, moves up to the top of the hit parade again with his latest song  "Just Young."
For the first time since Paul began recording a year and a half ago he has run into competition from another talented teenager.  The young man's name is Andy Rose and his version of "Just Young" is giving Paul's a run for the money.
Paul, however, stands a bigger chance of making it to the top than newcomer Andy Rose.  Paul has appeared on the Show of Stars show twice and has had three gold records to his credit.
His first overwhelming success platter was "Diana" and even if his version of "Just Young" comes in second by a photo finish, he still stands to gain enough royalty money to make him happy.
In most areas on the west coast of the U.S. Andy Rose and his version of "Just Young" are leading but in the eastern U.S. and the eastern part of this wide dominion Anka's version is leading the way.

(cont'd)
The publicity Paul received about six months ago from his home town hurt him for some time.  If you remember the newspaper story, Paul was besieged by pop bottles and paper clips in Ottawa.
This unfortunate occurrence in his home town gave the impression that Paul was finished because of his conceit. This was not the case, however.
Paul is neither conceited nor finished in musical circles.  His ability to write songs and sing them and his unequaled ability to present himself on the stage are three overpowering talents that are indisputable.  When Paul was in Vancouver with the show of stars we found him honest, sincere and very talented.
