Frankie Sardo’s “Fake Out” was on the WX chart for a mere 5 weeks and peaked only at number 53, as shown on the adjacent chart.
The song’s real significance is told here by Ray McGinnis who writes: “Frankie Sardo was the opening act for the Winter Party Tour with Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, the Big Bopper and Dion and the Belmonts.
"Sardo and Dion and the Belmonts chose not to fly in the small plane on February 3, 1959. As a result, they were the only recording artists that continued to perform,
along with Bobby Vee, who was recruited after Holly, Valens and the Big Bopper died.”
